A few years ago, our team was spending an embarrassing amount of time on the kind of work that shouldn't require thinking. Formatting outputs, converting data between formats, generating boilerplate, checking syntax - the small friction that adds up across a day until you realize you've lost two hours to tasks that weren't the actual problem you sat down to solve. We looked for tools that handled these things cleanly. Some were bloated, some were abandoned, some required accounts and subscriptions just to do something simple. Nothing felt like it was built for people who just wanted to get back to work.

So we built our own collection of utilities, quietly, over time, for ourselves. No grand vision - just a growing folder of tools that we kept reaching for. A JSON formatter here, a color converter there, a handful of string utilities that saved us from writing the same throwaway scripts over and over. DevDeck grew out of that folder. We cleaned things up, made them consistent, and eventually had something that covered most of the small daily friction points we kept running into. It wasn't a reinvention of anything. It was just the toolkit we wished had already existed.

Today DevDeck is exactly what it started as - a practical set of tools that we still use ourselves every day. We haven't tried to turn it into a platform or wrap it in features it doesn't need.
